Hello everybody
Welcome to our blog. We have been planning to travel around the world for a while. First it was just a joke but then some how we actually agreed about the countries we want to visit and well, here we go. First destiantion was quite easy to come up with. We both wanted to visit USA so it was quite obvous that we will go there. Rather than just spend week in some big city, we wanted to experince as much as possible... So now we buy a car and drive from NYC to LA. It is going to be a long drive but then again, we have two months time. We will visit my frind Tramar and his family n Hampton Virginia and later on Paul in Minneapolis. I met Tramar when I was studying in Florida International University for five months and we really had great time together. Paul, or Pauli as we Finns call him, I met in Penang, Malaysia. Paul was an exchange student and I had my internship in the same university. We had some crazy parties and lots of fun in a club in Bangkok. Can't wait to see you guys.
If we somehow finally arrive to LA in one piece, we gonna spent around there and fly to Fiji after that. This would be around 9th December. Fiji wasn't the first countries in our list. We had a looong list including South-American countries and Australia and I think we chose Fiji because it was supposed to be stop between those continents. Anyway, there we go and what I have read, it's gonna be awesome. They have great dive sites with sharks and other big fishes and visibility up to (and even more) 30m (~90ft). The funny thing is that we will fly two (2) days from LA to Nadi, the capital of Fiji. Of course the flight wont last so long, it will "only" be around 11hrs but because of the time zones it will be 11th december when we arrive.
Next destination will be Australia. I have never been so interested in Australia (before) but the more I have read about it, the more I like it. We chose it mostly because it has been Eve's number one country on the list.
So we are arriving to Sydney just before X-mas (help us, we dont know what do on Christmas!!) and propably we are heading straight away to Canberra to visit Nerida, a girl who was an exchange student in our city and came a good friends with Eve. As we don't have any real plans, we don't know what a hell we gonna do in Australia. Great Barrier Reef, Brisbane and Gold Coast sounds interesting but Australia is huge country and there's lot to see.
After one month in Australia we change the continent once again. We fly to Bangkok where propably travel slowly to south along the east side or we might go to Chiang Mai or even Vietnam or Laos or Cambodia. Malaysia would be nice, it would be cool to meet my friends from the work.
Im pretty sure we dont have too much money left (if any) after 3-4 months travelling so we deided to see the SEA countries last. We can have decent stay with little money and good relaxation before going home.
So here's the route. We have flexible tickets so we have possibility to change the dates if necessary.
8th October: Helsinki - New York, USA
New York, USA - Los Angeles, USA by car
9th December: Los Angeles, USA - Nadi, Fiji
22nd December: Nadi, Fiji - Sydney, Australia
1st February: Sydney, Australia - Bangkok, Thailand
3rd March: Bangkok, Thailand - Helsinki, Finland
Over all we gonna travel very light. We have limited budget and we try to save in anything we can (accommodation, transportation, eating) to have more money to use in things we like. If you can help us to find place to stay in any of the destinations we are going, it would be great! We promise to send postcard to everybody who can help us :) so if you have friends or relatives, let us know. We are cool people, easy to come along with and both blessed with great sense of humor and a curious mind.
And if you have any suggestions, ideas, anything about the destinations or the trip itself, share it with us! As I said, we don't have any strict plans, we are happy to hear what you did in Brisbane or what you found interesting in Chicago. Theme parks, Zoo's, National Parks, Music Clubs, Concerts, Spectator Sports, Hiking, Scuba Diving... you name it, we want to do it. Share your thoughts.
